All over scripture we are told that loving God means loving others as ourselves.
"If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. And this commandment we have from Him: whoever loves God must also love his brother."
1 John 4:20-21
So then, who is my brother? It seems to be a popular belief in the Church that a brother or sister is those who have chosen Christ aka Christians. However, I'd like to challenge that perspective!
For as in Adam ALL die, so also in Christ shall ALL be made alive.
1 Corinthians 15:22
This word ALL, is the same ALL in both!
Just as ALL fell into sin through Adam, ALL were redeemed in Jesus! Thus, ALL are our brothers and sisters!
Whether people are Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Agnostic, Atheist, Buddhist, heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual, peaceful, vengeful, pro-life, pro-choice, rapist, murderer, humanitarian, martyr, terrorist or anything else....they are still our brother and sister and we are NOT ONLY called to, but are also empowered to love them! This is the primary purpose for God putting His Spirit inside of us! It doesn't mean we will always agree with people's choices, but it does mean that we always love them perfectly, despite their choices!
As Christians, we have declared that we've given our lives to live JUST AS Jesus did! Jesus hung out with those who made choices He didn't agree with or condone! He didn't join their behaviors, but rather demonstrated sonship! He loved them perfectly, while reflecting who the Father created man to truly be! He walked out identity for the lost to see!
Because He CHOSE this lifestyle,
sinners CHOSE repentance!
The lost CHOSE to be found!
The blind CHOSE to see!
He didn't rebuke!
He didn't judge!
He lived love!
Let's live lives of created value!
We were created in the image of Love!
Let that love dissolve darkness!
